The fine print
Privacy policy
Last updated: August 8, 2026
This is the privacy policy for handshakestudios.com, run by Handshake Studios, LLC (36 Maplewood Ave, Portsmouth, NH 03801). The short version: we collect what you choose to send us, we use it to do the thing you asked for, and we don’t sell it to anyone. The longer version follows.
What we collect
Everything here is something you hand us on purpose:
- Project briefs and contact forms — your name, email, company, and whatever you tell us about your project.
- Newsletter and email series signups — your email address, confirmed by double opt-in before we send anything recurring.
- The readiness checklist — the email you enter to unlock it.
- Call bookings — when you book a strategy call, scheduling runs on Cal.com, which collects your name, email, and chosen time under its own privacy policy.
Like nearly every website, our infrastructure also keeps standard server and security logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested). We use them to keep the site up and abuse out, not to profile you.
Analytics
We use website analytics to understand how the site is used — which pages people visit, where they arrived from, and what they click. That can involve cookies or similar identifiers that tell repeat visits apart, along with technical details like device type, browser, and approximate location derived from your IP address. We read this in aggregate to figure out what’s working and what isn’t; it isn’t used to identify you personally.
Advertising
We advertise our own studio — nobody else’s — and we may use advertising pixels from platforms like Google, Meta, or LinkedIn to measure whether those ads work and to show ads to people who have already visited this site. These pixels set their own cookies and report site visits back to their platform under that platform’s privacy policy; they don’t see what you type into our forms. You can limit this through your browser’s cookie settings and each platform’s ad preferences.
What we don't do
- No selling or renting your personal information. Ever.
- No surprise emails: marketing email only goes to addresses that opted in, and every one carries an unsubscribe link that works on the first click.
One honest caveat: embedded services load in their own frames and may set their own cookies — Vimeo for video playback (we enable its “do not track” mode) and Cal.com for scheduling. Their collection is governed by their policies.
How we use what you send
- To reply to you and scope the project you asked about.
- To deliver the thing you signed up for — the checklist, the email series, the newsletter.
- To keep records of enquiries so we don’t lose the thread between conversations.
- To protect the site (rate limiting, spam filtering, security logs).
Who touches the data
A short list of service providers process data on our behalf, each only for its job: Sanity (our content database, where enquiry records live), Resend (email delivery), Cal.com (scheduling), Vimeo (video hosting), our web analytics provider, and the hosting and content-delivery infrastructure that serves this site. We share personal information beyond that only if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Enquiries stay as long as they’re useful for the working relationship. Subscriptions stay until you unsubscribe. If you want something gone sooner, ask — see below.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — email hello@handshakestudios.com and we’ll handle it. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing is immediate.
Children
This site is for businesses and the people who run them; it isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If our practices change, this page changes with them, and the date at the top moves. Material changes to how we handle existing subscribers get announced by email, not buried here.
